Severe threat continues for Plains

A multi-day severe weather threat will continue through the end of the week and into the weekend. Today and tomorrow will bring an increased risk of tornadoes to the Plains.

The WeatherRadar shows storms erupting late this afternoon and into the evening and nighttime hours from west Texas into portions of Oklahoma, Kansas, eastern Nebraska, western Missouri and western Iowa.

We will see strong storms develop late this afternoon and into the evening ahead of a dryline over Texas into Oklahoma. The activity will spread north and east through Oklahoma into parts of Kansas tonight. Cities like Lubbock and Amarillo, Texas, and Wichita, Kan., are at risk for severe weather.

These storms may produce large hail, intense winds and a few tornadoes. Make sure your weather alerts are turned on.

Severe thunderstorms are expected tomorrow afternoon into the nighttime hours across parts of the central and southern Plains northeastward into the mid to upper Mississippi Valley. The greatest potential for tornadoes, large to very large hail and damaging winds will be across eastern parts of Kansas and Oklahoma into western Missouri.
