Midweek stormy setup
Severe threat grows for Texas

Our WeatherRadar shows a period for Texas this week as severe weather risk grows. Let's take a look at the setup shows.

Severe weather can also happen during the winter months, and Texans should be on the lookout for a low-pressure system emerging from the Southwest, becoming better organized and stronger as it moves over Texas on Wednesday. West-central Texas through North Texas are at risk of severe storms that could produce damaging winds and tornadoes.

Severe storms are possible on Wednesday night into Thursday for west and central Texas.

This low-pressure system will pull moisture for big thunderstorms to form, producing many lightning strikes too. The severe threat will mainly occur between the afternoon and Wednesday evening. Still, residents across Southeast Texas should monitor closely the weather on Thursday as there will likely be strong to severe storms that could bring damaging winds, large hail, and tornadoes.

We will continue to bring you updates on this forecast and track the storms. Make sure to review your severe weather plan and review how you are receiving weather alerts.
