Severe threat into Easter Weekend

Severe storms are possible late this week into Easter Weekend. With intense storms possible as people head outdoors, it's important to stay alert.

Springtime storms often impact Easter plans, which may be the case for some this weekend. A renewed threat of severe weather ramps up on Thursday and continues through Easter Sunday. All eyes will be on the WeatherRadar into the holiday weekend.

The WeatherRadar shows storms firing up across Iowa, eastern Nebraska, southern Minnesota and northern Missouri late Thursday afternoon into the evening. Very large hail is the main threat, with damaging winds and isolated tornadoes possible. Cities such as Lincoln, Neb., and Des Moines, Iowa, are at risk.

Severe risk for Thursday and Friday

Friday's threat shifts east and expands as our cold front takes shape. Large hail will again be the main threat, but all types of severe weather are possible. Cities at risk include Abilene, Texas, Oklahoma City, St. Louis, Indianapolis and Detroit.

The severe weather continues into Easter Weekend. On Saturday, the threat extends from south-central Texas to western Pennsylvania. On Sunday, it extends across eastern Texas into southern Illinois. Keep an eye on the WeatherRadar and make sure your Weather & Radar app alerts are on!
