Snowy Thanksgiving is in the cards for some: See you chances

What are your chances?
Snowy Thanksgiving for some

It's shaping up to be a wintry Thanksgiving for many across the Northeast. Continue reading to learn whether you will get snow this holiday.

A storm system is set to sweep across the Eastern Seaboard this holiday break, bringing rain, windy conditions, and even snow for a lucky (or unlucky) few. The WeatherRadar shows the center of the system moving east to northeast across the Mid-Atlantic overnight Wednesday into Thursday.

The WeatherRadar shower the storm system moving across the Eastern Seaboard on Thursday morning setting up for some last minute travel delays.

By Thursday morning, rain and mountain snow will spread across a large portion of the Eastern U.S., stretching from the Deep South to New England. Whether you’ll see snow on Thanksgiving Day largely depends on where and how high you’re located. If you’re north of Maryland and east of I-95, you're looking more likely to get wintry weather.

Higher elevations also have better odds of snow, thanks to colder temperatures. For those living in the Appalachians, Catskills, Adirondacks, and the Green and White Mountains, you’re likely to experience plenty of the white stuff through Thursday night. Valleys and lower elevations will likely get a wintry mix through the day, with a transition to snow later in the evening.

For those along the coast and east of the I-95 corridor, chances of snow are pretty slim. Instead, you’ll likely see rain and strong gusts as the system intensifies while moving toward the Atlantic. Keep an eye on the forecast, though—a slight shift in the system’s track could still change conditions.

Wondering if you’re in for a white Thanksgiving this year? Check out the WeatherRadar to find the snow line, clearly marked by blue and pink shading. Our meteorologists will provide a live update on the forecast and travel conditions at 11:30 a.m. ET on Wednesday.
