Texas' weather changes
Rain chances up, temps down

After what seemed like endless days of extreme heat, the weather pattern has shifted, and Texas is in for welcomed changes that include the chance for showers.

The changes have already been felt across Southeast Texas. Monday's storms arrived around noon and the clouds helped keep highs at bay, with the official high at Houston Intercontinental Airport reaching "only" 89 degrees. Keep in mind the average high for this time of the year is 94, and for the better part of August, highs officially ranged between 94 and 102 degrees.

The weather setup brings lots of tropical moisture along the Texas coast from the Gulf and a cold front pushing eastward late this week.

Moisture coming onshore from the Gulf of Mexico will aid the development of sea breeze storms along the coast, but as more moisture travels inland, there will be the chance for scattered showers and storms moving inland and reaching central Texas and even North Texas late Tuesday and increasing storm coverage for the second half of the week.

With more moisture developing clouds, the temperatures will be quick to react and stay closer to average levels for this time of the year across much of the state. A cold front will also be arriving from the west which will increase the chance for showers over northwest Texas, where they continue to experience a severe drought.
