The rain & cool return!
Big changes for Florida

After several dry days from a strong high pressure in place, changes are coming to the Sunshine State. Temperatures will be less warm, and the rain will return! But where and when? Let´s dive in!

The temperatures have been hot the last few days, and considering the season, this should serve as your first warning that changes are coming soon. Usually, the winds shift, mainly from the south in response to an incoming cold front. The cold front will push over the entire peninsula on Monday, increasing the risk for showers and storms as it travels south.

Cold front moves throughTap on the map to track the storms moving across Florida.

As our WeatherRadar shows, there have already been some strong to severe storms during the wee hours of the day, especially across northern Florida, and moving over Central Florida to start the day. Expect cities like Tampa and Orlando to continue with the strong thunderstorm risk through early Monday afternoon but on a downward trend. Temperatures will be cooler, with highs struggling to reach the 80s. Just to put it in perspective, the average high temperature for Orlando this time of the year is 85 degrees. It’s a good change!

Large hail and damaging wind still possible for parts of South Florida

Across South Florida, some strong to severe storms will be likely during Monday afternoon, as the cold front pushes through. Expect the storms to be mainly confined over the easter half of South Florida, including the big metro areas. Please stay weather-aware. The main threat for these storms is to develop hail and damaging winds. Storms with severe potential will be greatest during the late afternoon after lots of heat makes the atmosphere unstable. Storms will be scattered but powerful. South Florida will have to wait until Tuesday to feel significant changes. Highs on Tuesday will be in the low 80s, dry and sunny!

If you catch a video of hail or damage, please send it our way. You can upload it here. Make sure to take pictures and videos safely. Also, make sure to have at least three ways of receiving weather alerts. Our team of meteorologists will be closely monitoring the changes and bring you prompt updates.
