'Tis the season
Double Waterspouts spotted

It's waterspout season in Florida, and double trouble was spotted earlier this week off Florida's east coast. Here's what to do if you spot one of these weather marvels.

Beachgoers were treated to an ominous sight on the horizon as two waterspouts rotated off the coast of Singer Island in Palm Beach, Fla. These waterspouts developed Thursday afternoon and are a common sight this time of year.

Florida's summer thunderstorms are famous, and they are prolific waterspout producers. Waterspout season extends from late Spring to early Fall every year in Florida, and these features are a common sight.

While most waterspouts dissipate before moving ashore, ones that stay together inland can cause significant damage. If you are spending time on the beach or a waterway, keep an eye on the WeatherRadar and seek shelter in a sturdy building if you spot a waterspout.
