Tornado risk
Severe storms target Midwest, Plains

Metro areas such as Minneapolis, La Crosse, Wis., and Chicago are under a severe storm risk this Monday. A few isolated to scattered severe storms could pop up from southeastern Montana to Detroit and Toledo, Ohio, as well as in the southern Plains from the Rio Grande River Valley to Oklahoma City, Okla.

The WeatherRadar shows storm activity kicking off around the evening commute time for the northern Plains and Midwest, with the Texas and Oklahoma activity not getting started until after dinner.

As much as an enhanced risk has been issued for the Upper Midwest due to the tornado and large hail risk. Although the Upper Midwest risk begins in the late afternoon, severe weather could last through the overnight hours, adding a nocturnal risk. This also applies to the southern Plains.

Have your alerts switched on, and your notification volume turned up in case a warning comes in overnight while you are asleep.
