Tropical Update
Danielle, Earl, disturbance, what else?

Danielle and Earl will continue over water and end up in the tropical graveyard over the Northern Atlantic.

It was a holiday weekend without tropical worries across the Atlantic, and this week seems like we will stay on a good track too. We are keeping an eye out for the next tropical wave coming off from Africa.

There is a tropical wave located south of Cabo Verde Islands moving west-northwest at 15 to 20 mph. The disturbance has a chance of becoming a depression this week, but as it gets closer to the Central Atlantic it will encounter strong wind shear, which will limit development late week. Looking at the long-range, it is likely that the Bermuda High will continue to be weak and closer to the Azores, which will keep this wave over the water.

Hurricane Danielle

Danielle finally got moving again on Monday. After a long weekend stay in the same spot, away from land, Danielle is forecast to move northeast and continue as a hurricane through Thursday. It will pass well to the north of the Azores Islands and it does not represent a threat to any other region.

Tropical Storm Earl

Earl is located well north of Puerto Rico and has shifted its movement to the north. Fluctuations in strength will continue and it could once again become a hurricane as it moves north during this week. Its center is expected to pass just east of Bermuda, as a hurricane on Thursday. It is unlikely that this system could impact Bermuda directly, but the island could still expect to receive heavy rain bands and some winds from Earl. Rough seas are also forecast.

We got our eye on the Gulf of Mexico because even though there are not any systems there currently, low pressures are building in here. This time of hurricane season any lows over very warm waters need to be closely monitored. Even if a tropical system does not develop over this area this week, a low could represent torrential rains for areas adjacent to the Gulf of Mexico. We will monitor this closely and keep you updated frequently.
