Tropical update
Disturbance dwindles chances & Beatriz

Tropical update 0630

Today marks half way through 2023.. but we are barely getting started with hurricane season.

The Atlantic Basin remains fairly quiet with only a disturbance located near Bermuda with a low chance of becoming a tropical system within the next 7 days.

The chances for this system to develop have decreased as there is strong wind shear currently over the area and it seems like the shear will win the battle even as the broad area of low pressure moves northward.

The Eastern Pacific.

While Hurricane Adrian continues to move west, away from land, if you are planning a trip to Mexico, specifically to somewhere along the western coast, you should be aware that Hurricane Beatriz is moving along the coast.

Beatriz was named on Thursday, and it has strengthened over the very warm eastern Pacific waters. It will be traveling very close to land, over the Mexican States of Michoacan, Colima, and Jalisco through Saturday. By Saturday afternoon, Beatriz should make a west turn and gradually move away from land, slowly downgrading in status. By Monday Beatriz, if it is still a tropical system, it could bring some winds and heavy rains to the region of Cabo San Lucas in Baja California Sur.
