Violent tornado hits, over a dozen dead

The weekend started with a violent tornado outbreak in Kentucky. Damage is still being evaluated.

Between Friday and Saturday morning, there were over 800 damaging wind reports, over 300 hail reports, and over two dozen tornado reports from the Ozarks through the Mid-Atlantic. Nocturnal tornadoes struck Kentucky, leaving countless homes flattened and over a dozen people dead.

Officials continue to evaluate the damage near London, Kentucky. The tornado will be given a rating early next week after the staff at the local National Weather Service surveys the area.

Severe weather continues on Sunday across the Plains as storms are expected to brew in the late afternoon and through the evening for many. See the WeatherRadar for the latest.
