Watch Kilauea erupt on video

Hawaii’s Kilauea volcano began the eighth episode of the ongoing eruption at the Halemaumau crater on Monday, February 3, continuing into Tuesday evening. Not only do we have video to show you, the eruption also showed up on the WeatherRadar.

Our WeatherRadar can do a lot. From showing you precipitation, cloud cover and temperatures, this tool has all you need to get through your day. But did you know our WeatherRadar can also see volcanic eruptions?

A clear sky was in place as Kilauea started its eighth episode of its ongoing eruption. Since the sky was clear, no clouds blocked the ash plume's view on the WeatherRadar. Watch the video above to see what we're talking about!

According to the USGS, the volcano was shooting lava over 250 feet into the air. The episode ended at 7:23 p.m. local time on Tuesday.
