Weekend severe threat

A potent severe threat will impact parts of the Plains, Midwest and South this weekend into next week. All types of severe weather are possible, including large hail, damaging winds and strong tornadoes.

Showers and storms will fire up on the WeatherRadar this afternoon and evening across the central and southern Plains.

Large hail, damaging winds and strong tornadoes will be possible across parts of Kansas and Oklahoma into the Ark-La-Tex region. Cities at risk today include McAlester, Oklahoma City, and Tulsa, Okla., Wichita, Kan., Dallas, and Shreveport, La.

The severe weather threat continues tomorrow, with late-night storms impacting cities such as Kansas City, Mo., Wichita, Kan., and Oklahoma City. Once again, large hail, damaging winds and strong tornadoes will be possible.

Another significant severe weather threat will set up on Monday afternoon and evening across the mid-Mississippi, lower Ohio, and Tennessee Valleys. Strong tornadoes, hail and damaging winds will be possible. Large population centers, including St. Louis and Chicago, will be at risk of severe storms.
