Where temps will rise
Weird temperature pattern setting up

As we head into the hottest time of the year for much of the U.S., a weird temperature pattern is taking shape on the TemperatureRadar.

The TemperatureRadar shows an interesting pattern flip as we head into the end of the week and into the weekend. As a cold front steers cooler air into the South, heat will build in the West. While many in the South will enjoy this cooler air, it will be accompanied by stormy conditions.

Cold front on WeatherRadar

Thursday afternoon, highs will reach the 80s in cities like Atlanta, Nashville, Tenn., and Charlotte, N.C., as clouds and rain keep things cooler. This more comfortable air will linger into the weekend, with many staying in the 80s across the Southeast.

On the other end of the country, heat will steadily build. The interior Northwest and southern and central California will see 90s and 100s through the end of the week. The desert Southwest will see 110s, even 120s this weekend.

Weather & Radar offers 14 days of quality forecast data, and we're seeing an interesting trend. Cooler air will stay put across the South into next week, while the heat will continue to build across the West. Keep up with the latest forecasts with the WeatherRadar and our hourly forecasts.
