Severe weather dominated the weekend forecast, and the final chapter of the powerful storm system that brought deadly tornadoes to ten states ended with wind damage in the Northeast.

The video above shows trees snapped in half in Churchville, N.Y., after damaging wind gusts pushed through the area. There were 234 wind reports on Sunday, many clustered in the interior Northeast. The WindRadar showed gusts in excess of 50 mph.

More than 1,000 reports of severe weather were recorded over the weekend, and sadly, deadly tornadoes ripped through Arkansas, Missouri, Mississippi and Alabama.

In total, at least 40 were killed by the violent tornadoes, dust storms, wildfires and blizzard conditions produced by this powerful storm system.
