Year's worth of rainfall piling up

Extreme weather alerts are active across portions of Southwest Texas as a year's worth of rainfall continues to pile up. Multiple water rescues have been performed, and the rain continues to fall.

Flooding is active across parts of Southwest Texas, and dark clouds continue to drop several inches of rainfall. Compared to last year's deadly July 4th rain event that impacted the Guadalupe River, water levels are even higher this time in some spots, and the river is projected to rise almost 10 feet above major flood stage near Comfort, Texas.

These portions of the Texas Hill Country normally average up to 33 inches of rainfall per year. In the last three days, 30 inches have fallen, causing flash flood emergencies.

The WeatherRadar shows active heavy rainfall through the end of the week, adding more issues to already flooded areas. A break is in store for the weekend, helping to dry things out.
