Significant fire danger for the Plains

On Friday morning, powerful winds kicked up dust and lowered visibility in Lubbock, Texas. High winds and low humidity will keep fire danger very high throughout Friday.

Wind gusts in excess of 60 mph today combined with low humidity will keep the fire risk high across the southern and central Plains. A wildfire outbreak is possible across portions of Texas, Oklahoma into western Missouri.
