Rain and snow continues for West Coast

It's rainy season for the West Coast, and as one system pushes east into the Great Basin today, more systems move in from the Pacific into the weekend.

The WeatherRadar paints a wet and even snowy picture Wednesday morning as a Pacific system continues to impact the West Coast. While coastal rain and mountain snow continue in California, the Great Basin is also getting into the action with snow showers across much of Nevada and rain in Las Vegas.

Scattered showers, with the potential for a few thunderstorms, are expected in Los Angeles and San Diego through the remainder of Wednesday, and gusty winds and high surf will continue to be an issue. Peak waves between 8 and 16 feet will be possible in southern California through Thursday.

As this system moves east on Wednesday and Thursday, rain and snow will move into the Great Basin and the Four Corners. Winter storm warnings remain in place for the Sierras and Klamath mountains where a few more inches of snow are expected to accumulate.

Snow totals

Winter weather advisories and winter storm watches have also been posted for northern Arizona, northern New Mexico, and southern Utah and Colorado. Snow totals of 5 to 10 inches are possible across portions of the Great Basin in Nevada, with up to half a foot of snow expected in the Four Corners region.

More soggy and snowy weather is in the forecast for the West Coast into the weekend, including heavy snow in the higher elevations of northern California, Oregon, and Washington. Weather & Radar's expert meteorologists will keep you up-to-date on this active weather pattern.
