Breakfast Brief
Active atmospheric river continues

An atmospheric river that brought rain and snow to the Northwest this weekend continues to bring moisture to the region. Snow moves into the northern tier while the South remains warm and quiet. The Breakfast Brief is published daily, Monday through Friday, at 5:00 a.m., Eastern time.

The WeatherRadar shows more rain and heavy mountain snow across the Northwest as an atmospheric river pushes moisture ashore. Snow will spread across the northern tier and into the upper Midwest. Cities like Billings, Mont., Bismarck, N.D., and Minneapolis will see snow showers today.

Heavy rain will impact northern California, with snow in the northern Sierra. Flash flooding is a concern in northern California, especially in areas that experienced significant rain over the weekend.

Well-above-average temperatures will impact the southern half of the U.S. High temperatures will be up to 30 degrees above average across the Southwest, southern Plains and the Southeast. Keep an eye on the TemperatureRadar.

News we're covering today:

  • Atmospheric River brings flood threat
