Breakfast brief
Heat continues for Deep South

A cold front will bring rain showers with a few embedded storms in a line that stretches from Texas to the Northeast today. Temperatures will remain well above average south of this boundary.

Coldest April temperature on record

The temperature at Eagles Nest, NM, plunged to 45 degrees below zero to establish an April record for the United States.

Today's weather outlook

As our cold front moves east, the WeatherRadar shows showers and storms erupting in a line from Texas to the Northeast. While the intensity of this system has lessened, there's still a chance for a few isolated severe thunderstorms in the Southeast. Snow and rain showers will impact parts of the high Plains and central Rockies. Little snow accumulation is expected at lower elevations.
