Breakfast Brief
Midwest rain & snow, West heat builds

Wednesday will be mostly quiet across the U.S. except for a couple of wet, snowy spots. Meanwhile, Mother Nature is turning up the heat in the western U.S. The Breakfast Brief is published Monday through Friday at 5:00 a.m. Eastern Time.

Upper Midwest residents will see the WeatherRadar fill in throughout the day on Wednesday as a small spring storm brings wet and snowy weather. The scattered active weather will extend southward to St. Louis and Indianapolis and by the late evening, heavy rain and snow will impact Milwaukee, Chicago and Detroit.

If you're looking forward to warmer weather across the Midwest, you won't have to wait long. Temperatures rebound on Thursday, albeit slowly. You can take a peek here if you get too chilly on Wednesday.

Also experiencing active skies, the Pacific Northwest will have to wait just one more day before a midweek break dries things out. The rain and mountain snow are remnants of the storm that came ashore on Tuesday but will begin clearing out this afternoon, local time! Check your forecast on the WeatherRadar to know when the clouds move out.

Other than some gusty winds across the central U.S., skies will be pretty quiet. However, the western thermometers will start displaying much warmer temperatures, with some records possible later this week.

Highs will make it to the 70s and 80s with 90s and even triple digits possible in the Desert Southwest. The TemperatureRadar is showing the red and orange color tones, indicating the warmer highs.
