Strong storms impact Plains again

Breakfast brief

The western high Plains and the Northeast will have a bit of trouble to contend with today. Florida stays hot while a cool down settles across several northern and central locations.

Coca Cola's first advertisement

On this day in 1886, the first advertisement for a Coca Cola appeared in the Atlanta Journal. It was advertised as medicine that could cure morphine addiction, indigestion, nerve disorders and headaches, among others.

Today's weather outlook

The WeatherRadar shows several areas of midweek concerns. Large thunderstorms will develop across the length of the western High Plains from Texas northward to the Dakotas, with damaging winds being the biggest concern.

National forecastThe Wednesday national forecast map shows storms from Texas to the western Dakotas while showers move across the Northeast and Northwest.

Meanwhile, an upper-level disturbance spinning out of the Great Lakes and into the Interior Northeast will bring afternoon showers and thunderstorms. These will be scattered, but could still interrupt outdoor activities. A Pacific system will keep the Northwest cloudy with a few showers lingering all day.
