A punchy storm rolling off Lake Erie brought Buffalo a bit of midday surprise Monday — a small tornado.

The tornado looked like it formed in Fort Erie, Ontario, Canada, before moving across the Niagara River and the U.S./Canada border into Buffalo, N.Y. This video shows the tornado during its Fort Erie stage.

Other videos from downtown Buffalo show the waterspout/tornado moving ashore and causing damage to roofs while knocking down trees and power lines. There are no reports of injuries at this time.

Dangerous thunderstorms are expected throughout the rest of today and tonight from the Midwest and Great Lakes as a weak frontal system stretches from the northern Plains into New England. Here is the latest.
