    Coast to coast weather flip!

Breakfast Brief
Coast to coast weather flip!

The weather pattern is starting to flip across the U.S. High pressure is moving to the east as a storm moves over the Pacific Northwest. The Breakfast Brief is published every Monday through Friday at 5 a.m. ET.

The high-pressure system sinks over the Southeast. This dominance will stay put through much of the weekend, allowing temperatures to finally warm, especially over the Appalachians, which have experienced low temperatures close to the single digits. Temperatures will remain below normal through Saturday morning and afternoon. But by Sunday afternoon, temperatures will be closer to normal for this time of year.

On Friday, temperatures will still be below normal, between 10 and 20 degrees in the morning. Coastal cities along the Carolinas between Morehead City, N.C., and Hilton Head Island, S.C., will struggle to reach the 50s. Even parts of North and Central Florida will experience another blast of cold air, bringing temperatures in the 60s for the northern half and in the low to mid-70s across the southern half of Florida. Mostly sunny skies across the entire Southeast.

Attached to the tail end of the same cold front ahead of the high-pressure system sinking in over the Southeast is a low-pressure system developing over southern Texas. This is a similar situation to what happened earlier this week. The low-pressure system will bring rounds of showers for South Texas through Central Texas on Friday. Some storms could be developing along the Mexico-U.S. border near Del Rio. Expect these showers and isolated storms to continue through Saturday.

The Pacific Northwest is forecasting a rainy weekend as the next storm system and a couple more energy impulses arrive. The showers will start to affect Seattle and its surroundings on Friday afternoon and continue through late Sunday afternoon.

Across the Southwest, it seems like the Imperial Valley in California will have the warmest temperature in the nation, this time even beating South Florida. A high temperature of 81 degrees is forecast for El Centro, Ca. The long-range forecast signals that above-average temperatures will continue for California, while near-average temperatures will reign next week for Utah, eastern Nevada, and Arizona.
