Autumn invades West too

An Autumn preview will be sweeping across the West Coast to close out the work week, bringing big changes.

An early autumn is definitely making its presence felt across the Eastern and Midwest U.S. Sweaters are the latest fashion style with highs in the 60s and 70s common and nighttime lows in the 50s and 60s. The West Coast won’t need to be too jealous though, colder temperatures are heading for the West Coast later this week and weekend.

A Pacific storm system —more typical of later in September — is heading into Northwest later Wednesday into Thursday. This will bring some much-needed rain to the Northwest while also bringing in much colder temperatures southward.

Afternoon highs on Friday and Saturday will only be in the 60s in Seattle, Portland, Ore., San Francisco and Sacramento. Even Los Angeles will only be in the upper 70s. All these temperatures will be significantly below normal and could be the coldest daytime high temperatures for the date Friday.

The autumn preview will slide into the Rockies and Mountain West this weekend, with more seasonable 70s and 80s returning to the West Coast. Check the 10-day forecast to see how the temperatures change as autumn tries to take hold.
