Daily briefing
Chilly, stormy & windy on Halloween

Halloween will be windy, chilly, rainy and even snowy for many this year. This, along with our tropical update, is available at 5 a.m. ET in our daily briefing.

Boo! Three storm systems are highlighting the WeatherRadar today: one in the Northeast, one in the Upper Midwest and Upper Great Lakes and another in the Pacific Northwest.

This morning, gusty winds and rain are hitting many across the Northeast. Even some Blue Ridge Mountain snow could accumulate in the highest elevations. Winds will steadily increase throughout the day across the Ohio Valley, Mid-Atlantic and Northeast. Rain will even turn to snow in northern New York. See the WeatherRadar.

Northeast rain & snow are in the forecast today. Northeast rain & snow are in the forecast today.

A clipper system will continue its descent across the Dakotas, the Upper Midwest and Upper Great Lakes, bringing scattered rainfall and even isolated snow showers. Gusty winds are also part of this system in the northern Plains.

Finally, another atmospheric river event will make its way into the Pacific Northwest bringing heavy, slow-moving rainfall. See the WeatherRadar to know its detailed forecast.

Temperatures in the 40s and 50s will have kids wearing layers under their costumes today across much of the northern half of the U.S. Slightly warmer 60s will spread from the Mid-Mississippi Valley to the Southeast and northern Florida, and upper 60s and 70s are expected for southern Texas and southern Florida. California and the Southwest through western Texas will stay in the warmest 70s and 80s.

Tropical Update

Hurricane Melissa is out to sea in the North Atlantic. No other tropical activity is expected over the next several days. We continue to monitor the tropics as the Atlantic Hurricane Season lasts until November 30.
