Daily briefing
A few wintry headaches

A few quick-moving winter storms rolling across the northern tier today will bring quick burst of rain and snow today. The East stays cold while the West is unseasonably mild. This is included in today's daily briefing, published every weekday at 5 a.m. ET.

Quick-moving clipper-like systems will zip across the northern tier today. The easternmost one will bring snow to the central Great Lakes into the interior Northeast. The WeatherRadar shows another system rolling out of the Rockies into the northern Plains. A mix of rain and snow will occur, with snow falling across the eastern Dakotas.

Three northern tier systemThree systems moving across the northern tier today.

Finally, rain and mountain snow will spread across the Pacific Northwest into the northern Rockies. Heavy rain could trigger local flooding across the Pacific Northwest west of the Cascades. The WindRadar shows winds gusting in excess of 25 mph throughout the northern Rockies.

The southern tier from California to the Southeast will have a quiet Tuesday. Temperatures on the TemperatureRadar will be in the 70s across southern California, the Southwest and southern Florida, while 60s will be found across the rest of California, the Great Basin and throughout the southern and central Plains. Colder 30s and 40s will be found across the Midwest and the Mid-Atlantic.
