Daily briefing
Busy PNW, spotty rain & snow for Monday

Much of the U.S. is quiet to start the week, but a few rain and snow showers will keep umbrellas up for some. The Pacific Northwest is the busiest region as an atmospheric river pushes moisture inland. The daily briefing is published every weekday at 5 a.m. ET.

The Pacific Northwest and northern Rockies are the busiest spots today as an atmospheric river pushes in rain and mountain snow all day.

Other than gusty winds across the northern High Plains and the Great Lakes, most of the U.S. is quiet. Rain is possible in the Dakotas and southern Texas, with snow in the Northeast, but everywhere else has a mix of sun and clouds for Monday.

It's a cool day for the eastern two-thirds with 30s, 40s and 50s on the eastern side of the Rockies. Higher-elevation highs will be cold in the 30s and 40s, but the West Coast will be warmer than average in the 50s and 60s, with 70s expected in Southern California and the Desert Southwest.
