10:00 AM
November 17, 2025

Daily briefing
Active weather for both coasts

Another powerful storm impacts the West Coast, while an exiting low brings rain and snow to the Northeast. Temperatures in the southern Plains remain above-average. This, along with our tropical update, is available at 5 a.m. ET in our daily briefing.

A powerful storm will continue to bring rain and mountain snow to the West, while an exiting low sends snow across the Northeast. The WeatherRadar also shows a few storms developing across the Upper Mississippi River Valley.

After a weekend of heavy rain and mountain snow, the action continues across portions of the West Coast, northern Rockies and northern Plains. Rain extends from Los Angeles to Bismarck, N.D., today. Snow also continues to pile up along the highest elevations of the Sierra and Rockies. Our app offers mountain and ski information if you plan to take advantage of the new powder.

An exiting low will send a few snow bands across the Northeast and New England. Dry weather is expected for the southern Plains and the Southeast.

While the Southwest and Northeast will see cooler-than-average temperatures, record highs will be possible across the southern Plains. Temperatures will warm into the 80s in cities like Houston and Oklahoma City. Near-record and record highs will dot much of Texas today.

Tropical Update

Tropical activity is not expected over the next several days. We continue to monitor the tropics as the Atlantic Hurricane Season lasts until November 30.
