Daily briefing
East Coast's front, flash flood risk continues for Texas

Back to regular programming after the long weekend, and while the tropics no longer show signs of life, there will also be a cold front across the Great Lakes, bringing weather with it. All of these details are provided daily in the Weather & Radar daily briefing published every weekday at 5 a.m. ET.

A cold front will be inching closer to the Ohio Valley through Arkansas on Monday. Scattered thunderstorms will move ahead of the cold front as the low-pressure system enters the Northeast. The showers and thunderstorms will ease off by the time the sun sets. Highs will remain between 2 and 5 degrees above normal across the Appalachians and New England, with cities like Boston and New York City expected to reach 90 to 95 degrees.

Out West, low-pressure systems are building. The warmth will continue for the Four Corners and the deserts, with temperatures around 5 degrees above normal. The immediate West Coast will experience cooler-than-average temperatures, with a thick and prolonged marine layer that will keep the cooler air in place.

Texas Floods

Catastrophic floods in Texas caused over 80 people to die, including over 20 children at a camp in Central Texas. The flash flood risk continues across the Hill Country and the I-35 corridor. The forecast calls for 2 to 4 inches of rain, but some isolated areas could still receive up to 10 inches of rain.

Tropical Update

While Chantal formed just off the Georgia-South Carolina coast, it remnants continue to bring some rain across the Mid-Atlantic and the Northeast. The rest of the Atlantic is taking a breather. This is the time to review your hurricane plans and see if you live in an evacuation zone. Please note that if you need to make any policy changes to your insurance policy, you should do so now, as changes may take up to 30 days to take effect.
