Evening severe storms
Florida's Panhandle at risk

That icy pattern will finally get moving out of Texas and it will be thanks to a low-pressure system in the upper atmosphere. On the surface, a low-pressure will also be coming out of northeastern Mexico and border the Texas upper coast and the northern Gulf Coast bringing the chance of severe storms on Thursday. But when? and, who's most at risk?

The low pressure hugging the Gulf Coast will push in a warm front, where the warm front moves is where the severe risk will be. This low pressure is also pushing a cold front behind. Your cue for the end of severe weather will be a cool breeze. Once the cooler air moves into your region, the chance for severe weather diminishes.

Severe storms: timing & threats

Storms will begin to develop on Thursday afternoon and intensify by the evening. Cities east of New Orleans to Tallahassee will likely experience strong gusty winds, and tornadoes cannot be ruled out. The severe threat will be mainly focused on the Florida Panhandle, cities like Tallahassee, Fla., Dothan, Ala., and Pensacola should stay weather aware.

The threat will move in quickly and it will likely move out quickly, nonetheless, there could be dangerous storms that could threaten property and life. Make sure to have at least 3 ways of receiving weather alerts and keep your phones charged.

Storms will be moving toward the Carolinas and North Florida on Friday, but the threat does not seem to be severe.
