Breakfast Brief
Caribbean storm, big temps changes

Temperatures will change dramatically in the next week. Fronts will continue to move in from the west, causing these abrupt changes. The Breakfast Brief is published every Monday through Friday at 5 a.m. ET

The nice weather continues across the Central Plains, with plenty of sunshine and comfortable temperatures. On Friday, scattered showers will affect the Appalachian mountains, and the clouds will stay put. This is all while the high-pressure system sinks in and allows the northern winds to bring a shot of cooler temperatures that will last through the weekend across the Southeast amidst much drier air.

Temperatures will increase today across the Central Plains, and slowly, above-average temperatures will move east as the next cold front moves over the Rockies. Enjoy Friday, as the temperatures across Texas will be around the upper 70s and increase to the 80s on Sunday. Make sure to dust off those jackets; temperatures will struggle to reach the 60s in the afternoon on Monday across much of Texas.

The pattern will remain stalled until a stronger system pushes inland across the west late this weekend. Snow will continue to fall over the Great Basin and, by the late evening, start to move toward the Rockies, but it will still not reach Colorado. Seattle will have a small break in the precipitation in the afternoon and evening.

November 15, 1996

An intense, lake effect snow event came to an end over western New York, northeastern Ohio, and northwest Pennsylvania. Chardon, Ohio, was buried under 68.9 inches of snow over a six-day period. Edinboro, Pa., checked in with 54.8 inches. 18.5 inches blanketed Cleveland, Ohio, and 42 inches fell at Sherman, New York.

Tropical update:

Sara formed, and it will meander around the same general area all weekend. Honduras should prepare to receive around 20 inches of rain over the next two days. It is forecast to push through the Yucatan Peninsula early next week, and then it should pick up speed as a front will likely push Sara toward Florida. Please stay tuned and informed.

News we are covering today:

  • Sara in the Caribbean
  • Cold snap to the Southeast
