Breakfast Brief
High for the western half, east storm

The weather remains quiet, with a strong high-pressure system in place over the middle and western U.S. A storm will continue to bring showers and snow over the Northeast. The Breakfast Brief is published daily, Monday through Friday, at 5:00 a.m. Eastern time.

A high-pressure system continues to bring benign and sunny weather across the Rockies Central Plains and much of the West except the Pacific Northwest, where another system is producing morning and early afternoon showers in Seattle and nearby locations. This precipitation will end, and conditions will improve on Friday before another system approaches over the weekend.

Since the early morning hours on Thursday, a storm has been bringing snow, freezing rain, and rain across the Northeast.

Strong winds will dominate the Great Lakes and parts of the Northeast following a storm that will also produce rounds of rain and snow over the interior parts of the Northeast. The WeatherRadar shows heavy snow, followed by freezing rain, then rain across Albany and western Massachusetts early Thursday morning. By the afternoon, much of the tri-state region will be under rain, so keep that umbrella handy.
