    Lisa's remnants, Martin & 2 other areas

Ramped tropics
Lisa's remnants, Martin & 2 other areas

The tropics are getting a burst of energy! Martin continues to grow in size over the Atlantic, Lisa's remnants bring heavy rains to southern Mexico and there are two other areas that could develop early next week.

As Lisa continues to move over southern Mexico is continuing to lose its wind speeds. The storm will likely become a depression on Thursday and remain a depression as it moves over the southern portion of the Gulf of Mexico by Friday morning. It does not seem likely that this system might intensify again to a tropical system, it will likely dissipate over this same region of the Gulf.

Regardless of status, heavy rains that could lead to life-threatening floods and mudslides are possible for parts of Veracruz, Tabasco, northern Oaxaca, and Chiapas.

Hurricane Martin in the open Atlantic

Martin became the 7th hurricane of the season on Wednesday. It is forecast to continue tracking northward only affecting the shipping industry. By Saturday, it will likely become an extratropical storm, staying quite massive and possibly growing a bit more as it then changes its direction to the east. By Sunday, parts of the UK could experience large swells and damaging winds which could bring many power outages.

Two other areas we are watching

There is a low chance for a tropical system to form near Bermudas. This area of disturbed weather will be moving west over the weekend and likely merge with the other broad low-pressure area.

The broad area of low pressure has a 30 percent chance of becoming a tropical system by next week. The cluster of storms will cross over the southwestern Atlantic over the weekend and it will likely become better organized as it moves north-northwest.

The area near Bermudas will likely be absorbed by the larger low pressure area set to form near the Bahamas early next week.

Regardless of formation, this system will bring heavy rains to Florida early next week and will keep an active pattern through much of the work week, before Veteran’s Day.
