Look up, Southwest!
Low pressure swirling overhead

Rain and mountain snow are impacting the Desert Southwest Tuesday thanks to a clear low-pressure circulation showing up on the WeatherRadar.

Thick clouds and mountain snow are showing up on the WeatherRadar Tuesday morning in Arizona and the southwestern portion of the Four Corners. Press play on your app and you'll see the counterclockwise circulation!

The WeatherRadar shows everything from cloud cover, precipitation (rain, snow and ice), sky conditions and temperatures. When there is a well-defined low-pressure system, like the one in the Southwest, we can see these parameters change as the system moves.

You can do a little bit of short-term weather forecasting yourself just by watching the WeatherRadar! For example, Tucson, Ariz., is going to go from clear skies to partly cloudy soon (as of 9:05 a.m. local time) as the low-pressure shifts clouds from west to east. Do you see it?

This tool can help you make decisions no matter what type of weather you're dealing with. Those in the southern Plains and Deep South will have to use it wisely by the midweek point as severe weather is forecast. Learn more here.
