More Northeast snow, SoCal's heat break

Breakfast Brief
More Northeast snow, SoCal's heat break

The week ends with another storm impacting the Northeast and New England, while Southern California has a break from the heat with the arrival of showers and storms. We are also giving you a glimpse into the weekend. The Breakfast Brief is published daily, Monday through Friday, at 5:00 a.m. Eastern time.

Another storm arrives in the eastern portion of the Great Lakes through the Northeast to close out the week. This system is coming from the central region of Canada, and it is moving fast. Most of the snow will fall over the northern Great Lakes in the afternoon, but after sunset, the snowfall will fall over much of north Pennsylvania and New York and move onto New England by midnight.

Another storm will swing fast toward the Northeast, bringing more snow.

Saturday is forecast to remain active with lighter rain and snow showers as two fronts associated with the same storm push through. The high-pressure system builds after the front, and the weather improves for the Northeast and much of the Eastern Seaboard with the winds from the north, which will bring a shot of colder and dry air to finish the weekend.

Southern California will close off the week with a weak storm arriving. Luckily, this storm will shift the winds, and the warm temperatures will end, at least temporarily. There is a chance for showers and isolated storms on Friday evening.

Mostly quiet weather still dominates the Central Plains through the Four Corners, at least through Saturday. Still, overnight into Sunday, the same system that crosses Southern California will catch intensity and speed and bring rounds of showers and mountain snow to parts of Arizona, Colorado, and New Mexico.

We will monitor the potential for a severe weather outbreak between Tuesday and Thursday next week, which could start near the western Deep South and move through the Southeast.
