New Year's Eve forecast
How will 2024 conclude?

New Year's Eve is fast approaching. Will the weather impact your plans? We have the forecast for you.

As the WeatherRadar animation above shows, the biggest weather concern nationally will be from the Great Lakes and Midwest into the Northeast. A quick-moving storm system will bring some snow showers to Detroit, Cleveland and even Chicago as midnight approaches.

For New York City and the millions expected at Time Square, rain and even a rumble of thunder will be possible leading up to the big ball drop. Current timing of the downpours looks to be occurring before midnight, but party goers should still take some rain gear.

The only other trouble spot will be the Northwest. Light rain and mountain snow will possible from northern California northward into Oregon and Washington. An arctic blast will start to dive across the Plains. Subfreezing temperatures will be found as far south as Oklahoma City while teens and 20s will chill Denver, Salt Lake City and Minneapolis.

The Weather & Radar application offers an expanded hourly forecast that offers completely details for the New Year's Eve forecast.
