Pacific storm brings flash flood to California

8'' of rain & 3' of snow
Pacific storm brings flash flood to California

Another storm in California prompted a flash flood risk as heavy precipitation could affect the mountains and higher elevations where up to 8 inches of rain could fall, and the highest peaks could receive up to 3 feet of additional snow.

The ground is already well saturated from the two most recent storms that crossed the state. Los Angeles is also expected to receive more widespread rain showers tonight. This morning, a few showers crossed the region. Although there has been a break in the early afternoon hours, there is a chance for heavier downpours to set camp tonight through the early morning hours on Friday as the cold front attached to the low-pressure system moving inland over northern California inches closer to Southern California.

Strong gusts, stronger int he mountains and the winds will spread inland on Friday.

This storm is expected to linger and continue to bring showers across the entire state through the afternoon on Friday, and slowly, the rain showers will end from west to east across the northern half of California. San Francisco can expect the rain to end by around 2 p.m. Friday, while a few stray showers will still be possible in Los Angeles around that time, but ending soon after that. Periods of heavy snow will still affect the Sierras through late Friday afternoon.

This storm will also bring windy conditions Thursday, with gusts that could exceed 65 mph over the California mountains, and strong winds will move inland and affect the Great Basin Thursday night through Friday morning. The Rockies will experience increased wind on Friday afternoon and widespread winds of at least 30 mph are likely with higher gusts.
