Another enhanced risk issued Friday

After what became a devastating night for some Ohio families after severe weather tore through the Plains through the Ohio Valley, more severe weather is on the way today, stretching from southern Texas to South Carolina. An enhanced risk has been issued.

Strong to severe storms have already been firing today along a pair of cold fronts draping across the southern and southeastern U.S. The most severe storms are expected in the enhanced risk, a level 3 out of 5 on the severity scale, which is in place for a portion of southern Texas, including San Antonio.

The main threats from today’s storms in the enhanced risk include very large hail, greater than egg size for many, and damaging winds. An isolated tornado cannot be ruled out. The WeatherRadar shows these storms moving into the enhanced risk zone by mid-afternoon and into the evening.

The surrounding areas in the marginal and slight risks, levels 1 and 2 out of 5 respectively, also have the same threats, but on a more isolated to scattered storm basis, rather than scattered to numerous in the enhanced zone.
