Localized amounts to 4"
Soggy Saturday for the southern Plains

Privacy policy

We have a soggy Saturday in store for the southern Plains and Ozarks as a stationary front sets up camp.

On top of the isolated severe storms in the forecast for southern Texas, heavy rainfall could cause some flash flooding issues on Saturday. Those with outdoor plans should monitor the WeatherRadar closely.

As much as a slight risk for excessive rainfall has been issued and includes places like Austin, Dallas, and Fort Worth, Texas, Magnolia, Ark., and Shreveport, La.

The southern Plains and Ozarks can expect showers and isolated thunderstorms today, but things will really pick up on Saturday morning, as seen on the WeatherRadar. Those along Interstate 35 in Texas and eastward to the Arkansas and Louisiana border could see 2 to 3 inches between Saturday and Sunday morning.

Excessive rainfall

Within the isolated thunderstorm activity, localized rainfall amounts could be higher, possibly exceeding 4 inches. You can prepare for the incoming thunderstorms by watching the WeatherRadar, especially if you’ll be out and about this weekend.

With these kinds of rainfall amounts, and by remembering that this area has seen heavy rainfall recently, flash flooding is the main risk. Those low-lying areas and poor drainage spots could quickly puddle or create a flash flood situation.
