Southeast Texas
Big temperature & weather swings

Weather setup on Wednesday morning. Toasty day, the a cold front drops the temps.

There are big swings in weather across southeast Texas, with a mixture of increasing and decreasing temperatures, sunny weather, and then the chance for strong storms to develop just in time to end the week into the weekend.

Temperatures will increase nicely to about 73 degrees. That is about 10 degrees above normal for the season on Wednesday afternoon after a mild and foggy morning. The skies will remain partly sunny with clouds building back in during the evening hours as a cold front nears. This cold front is not expected to bring much rain, but a change in the winds will allow the temperatures to drop to closer to normal levels, around the mid-60s.

Thursday night and Friday will be the coolest days of the week with temperatures staying below normal. Friday morning will start with a low around 39 degrees and highs will struggle to reach 60, but at least the skies will remain mostly sunny.

By Friday evening, there will be a warm front pushing closer to southeastern Texas, bringing in more humidity and increasing the chance for showers. Temperatures will quickly react to a change in winds, and temperatures will be warm and it will feel muggy on Saturday. By Saturday evening, the chance for storms increases as the atmosphere will be already unstable and there will be the next cold front pushing in from the north. There could be strong storms on Sunday, with the chance for severe storms.

We will continue to monitor the evolution of this system and keep you updated. As of now, make sure to have alternative plans if you have any outdoor activities planned this upcoming weekend.
