Still Hot
More records for Ohio Valley, Mid-South

No rest for the air-conditioner across the South, Mid-South and Ohio Valley today and the rest of the week for that matter.

Record-high temperatures are possible in Indianapolis, Cincinnati, Louisville, Kent., Nashville, Tenn., and Raleigh, N.C. Temperatures in the upper 90s to 100 degrees will be common. These will approach and break daily records, with Nashville, if it hits 101, will break a record from 1897. The hot weather sticks around through Friday, with more daily records likely broken.

On Wednesday, numerous high temperature records were broken throughout the Southeast and the Mid-Atlantic. Washington’s Reagan National Airport hit 101 degrees, breaking the daily record by 2 degrees. The Mid-Atlantic will be slightly cooler after a weak cold front settled southward and touched off some storms late Wednesday.

Meteorological autumn begins on September 1st, and cooler, autumn weather is on the doorstep for later in the Labor Day weekend.
