Blizzards, flooding, and extreme gusts

Weather & Radar's Task Force is activated. A very large storm system impacts most of the West Coast, but the big stories are coming out of the mountains where the heavy snow will fall for several days, likely reaching record snowfall with some areas getting over 12 FEET of snow! The wind will also be strong which will cause snow to drift and visibility to be completely obstructed. Traveling is not recommended Friday through much of the weekend. Periods of heavy rain will cause flooding across the lower elevations.

Meteorologist James West is covering the forecast updates. Meteorologist Mary Mays will host a live forecast on our YouTube page covering the whole system and Meteorologist Irene Sans will have a live blog going as updates and news breaks come in during the event.
