It's no surprise that mud and landslides are happening during this deluge.Too much water all at once is hard for any soil to handle, let alone soil that has recently experienced burning or drought.

Give yourselves some extra time to navigate this situation if you have to be out and about.

10:45 a.m. PST

The most recent rain is just adding to the wet mess across SoCal. Areas that only receive around two inches of rainfall the whole month of December on average have already surpassed that within the last 24 hours!

Rain totals are coming in from overnight. Widespread rainfall spreads throughout SoCal but north of Thousand Oaks, up to almost 8 inches of rainfall have been reported!

8:00 a.m. PST

Some areas could see more than 10 inches of rainfall by Friday morning in southern California, especially in the mountains. This is bringing the threat of mudslides, landslides, and flash flooding.

Oxnard California received 3 inches of rain in an hour this morning, resulting in dangerous flooding. Be sure to turn around and don't drown when approaching a flooded roadway.
