Too hot too soon?
Temps could touch 100°F in S. Texas

Early March heat not felt in at least 19 years will toast South Texas on Wednesday. Temperatures will be in the upper 80s and 90s, with the southern tip possibly reaching the triple digits.

Laredo, Texas, hit 101°F on March 12, 1904, and this town has a high-temperature forecast of 100°F on Wednesday, possibly tying the 121-year-old record. Nearby spots like Del Rio and Austin could also come close to tying or breaking records from 2006 with forecast highs of 94 and 89, respectively.

Very warm, dry air from the mountains in northeast Mexico will pour into southern Texas. This south and southwest flow will keep the hot air pumping into Laredo and surrounding areas, helping the mercury rise to the triple-digit mark.

The TemperatureRadar shows the deep reds on the map, highlighting the very warm temperatures. Record warmth will extend north and east throughout the week as warm, high pressure sets up camp and spreads spring fever. Monitor the TemperatureRadar in your location to see how warm it gets this week!
