Tornado strikes Mississippi

04:11 AM
March 24, 2025

Early Sunday evening
Tornado strikes Mississippi

Severe weather started developing later Sunday afternoon, with a line extending from Central Texas through the Tennessee Valley.

This line is part of an ample low-pressure system traveling to the Northeast, and it developed severe storms that produced dozens of damaging wind gusts, large hail, and at least one tornado by early Sunday evening.  The National Weather Service reported a small vortex formed under a rotating wall cloud. Seen from MS Highway 14 on the west side of Rolling Fork. This is the same town hit hard by a powerful tornado in 2023.

The severe weather will continue to move to the southeast as the cold front pushes through. On Monday morning, some strong thunderstorms could still be moving through the Gulf Coast.
