Tropical update
Two waves could be named late week

Tropical disturbances over the Atlantic Basin August 30.

It is becoming more obvious that the long stretch without a named system will continue through the week, even with 2 tropical waves meandering over the Atlantic Basic.

Both tropical waves will take their sweet time to develop. The disturbance located over the Central Atlantic, moving west-northwest toward the Lesser Antilles will be moving so slow and battling with very dry air. This very dry air is the same cluster that has been lingering in this region for many weeks and has prevented tropical formation. Once it passes the dry spot, there could be development, but it will not be until late this week or early weekend. It is very likely that our tropical update will look very similar tomorrow.

The tropical disturbance over the far eastern Atlantic has a medium chance to develop in the next five days. It is moving west-northwest, and it is struggling against a bit of shear that is preventing it from organizing. If it were to become a tropical depression later this week, it will likely be very short-lived as it will move over cooler water.

Make sure to check your hurricane plans ahead of time.
