Big Midwest storms
Twin City tornado threat

Severe storms, including tornadoes, will be possible in the central Plains and especially the upper Midwest later today and tonight.

An extensive spring storm system stretching from West Texas northeastward into western Great Lakes will be the focus point for big storms today.

There will be two areas of big storms. The first one will be along the dryline of western Texas into the southern Plains, where major storms capable of damaging winds and tornadoes will be possible in places like Midland and Wichita Falls, Texas, and Oklahoma City.

The second area of storms will be across the Upper Midwest and western Great Lakes. In this area, the meeting of a warm front and cold front will produce perfect conditions for severe storms capable of producing damaging winds, large hail and significant tornadoes.

Minneapolis and Duluth, Minn., La Crosse, Madison and Milwaukee, Wisc., Des Moines, Iowa, and Omaha, Neb., all could be threatened by these storms this afternoon and evening.
