Storm surge impacting Texas

Tropical storm Alberto sent water onshore in coastal Texas. This live blog kept you up-to-date throughout the day.

2:30 p.m. CT

In addition to coastal flooding from storm surge, inland flooding is another thing Weather & Radar's expert meteorologists are keeping an eye on. With rain totals up to 10 inches through Thursday, flash flooding is a concern.

The potential for tornadoes will increase this afternoon and tropical moisture from Alberto continues to move onshore along the Texas coastline.

A waterspout made its way onshore in Jamaica Beach, Texas. Waterspouts often occur with tropical systems, even far away from the center of the storm.

Up to 4 feet of storm surge is possible from Sargent to Sabine, Texas. Galveston Bay could also see up to 4 feet of surge. Moderate coastal flooding is ongoing.

We now have tropical storm Alberto. This is the first named storm of the season.

9:30 a.m. CT

A storm surge is already moving into Surfside, Texas. As our tropical system inches closer, more coastal and inland flooding is expected through Thursday.
