Rainy April sets Oklahoma City record

April 2025 is officially in the books as Oklahoma City's wettest month and more rain is in the forecast to kick off May.

A new record of 12.54 inches made this last month Oklahoma City's wettest April on record, breaking the record set back in April 1947 of 11.91 inches of rain. Flood warnings are active today, May 1, after several rounds of storms have hit the state in the last several days. In the last 24 hours, up to 5 inches have already fallen.

More flooding rains are expected late tonight into the early morning hours of Friday, May 2nd, with as much as a slight risk issued - level 2 out of 4 - on the excessive rainfall scale. The WeatherRadar shows heavy storms moving into the area after 11 p.m. local time and lasting through the nocturnal hours, already making the Friday morning commute likely slower.

Remember, if you come to a flooded road or path, turn around, don't drown, as the roadway may have washed away.
